These are the cookies that I keep making dozens of time in this time of the year, and bring them as a small present to anyone I meet.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">This year I decided to make them a bit different and use date syrup instead of honey and whole wheat instead of all-purpose flour. They turned out golden, rustic, soft and melt in your mouth \u2013 simply irresistible cookies that are perfect for upcoming Rosh Hashanah.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">These date syrup cookies are coated with sugar powder that gets beautiful crinkles after baking, which makes the cookies so pretty. (3 tbsp.) vegetable oil<\/li>\n<li>\u00bc tsp ground cinnamon<\/li>\n<li>Pinch of salt<\/li>\n<li>1 egg<\/li>\n<li>140 grams (1 cup) whole wheat flour<\/li>\n<li>50 grams (1\/2 cup) almond meal<\/li>\n<li>\u00bd tsp. baking powder<\/li>\n<li>\u00bd tsp. baking soda<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>For coating:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>60 grams (1\/2 cup) sugar powder<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<div class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-instructions\">\n<ol>\n<li>In a large mixer bowl with paddle attachment place date syrup, sugar, oil, cinnamon, salt and egg in a and whisk until combined.<\/li>\n<li>Add flour, almond meal, baking powder and baking soda and mix until soft dough is obtained.<\/li>\n<li>Cool the dough for about an hour in the refrigerator for stabilization.<\/li>\n<li>Preheat the oven to 170c degrees and arrange baking paper on baking trays.<\/li>\n<li>Roll small balls of dough and dip in powdered sugar for coating.<\/li>\n<li>Arrange the cookies in intervals on the baking trays and bake for 10-14 minutes or until the cookies crinkle and set.<\/li>\n<li>Cool completely at room temperature and serve.<\/li>\n<\/ol><\/div>\n<div class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-notes\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: left\">Keep the cookies in a sealed box for up to a week at room temperature.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left\">You can freeze the cookies for up to a month in a sealed container.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left\">You can prepare the dough a day in advance and keep it in the refrigerator.<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<div class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-meta\">\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--End WPRM Recipe--><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_22207\" style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-22207\" class=\"wp-image-22207\" title=\"Date Syrup Crinkle Cookies\" src=\"https:\/\/www.oogio.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/date_syrup_crinkle_cookies-s.jpg\" alt=\"Date Syrup Crinkle Cookies\" width=\"800\" height=\"1200\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-22207\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Natalie Levin<\/p><\/div>\n<\/span>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I love traditional honey cookies (Duvshaniyot) \u2013 even since my childhood it\u2019s been my top favorite cookies, up until today.
