On the days before the holiday I bakie many kinds of hamantaschen cookies to give my friends and family on the Mishloach Manot.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">These hamantaschen cookies are made of almond short crust pastry that is scented with some orange zest, and filled with chocolate and nuts filling. They are buttery and has a beautiful malt-in-your-mouth texture that is simply addictive. If you like hamantaschen you\u2019re gonna love these.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_12156\" style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12156\" class=\"wp-image-12156\" title=\"Almond Hamantaschen Cookies Filled with Chocolate\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lilcookie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/orange_almond_and_chocolate_hamantaschen-s.jpg\" alt=\"Almond Hamantaschen Cookies Filled with Chocolate\" width=\"800\" height=\"1200\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-12156\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Natalie Levin<\/p><\/div>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-6091382327871787\" data-ad-slot=\"7832461759\" data-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p><!--WPRM Recipe 19903--><\/p>\n<div class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe\">\n<h2 class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-name\">Almond Hamantaschen Cookies Filled with Chocolate<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-summary\">\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n<div class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-equipment\">\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n<div class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-ingredients\">\n<h4>For the almond orange short crust pastry:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>100 grams (1 stick) cold butter, cut into cubes<\/li>\n<li>50 grams (5 tbsp.) sugar powder<\/li>\n<li>140 grams (1 cup) all-purpose flour<\/li>\n<li>35 grams (1\/3 cup) almond meal<\/li>\n<li>Pinch of salt<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp. vanilla extract<\/li>\n<li>Zest of \u00bd orange<\/li>\n<li>1 egg yolk<\/li>\n<li>1-2 tbsp. orange juice  ((gradually added, as needed))<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>For the chocolate filling:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>150 grams dark chocolate<\/li>\n<li>75 grams (3\/4 stick) butter<\/li>\n<li>50 grams (1\/2 cup) ground nuts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>For serving:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Sugar powder<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<div class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-instructions\">\n<ol>\n<li>Almond orange short crust pastry: in a food processor with a steel blade, mix butter, powdered sugar, flour, almond meal, salt, vanilla extract and orange zest until crumbly mixture is formed.<\/li>\n<li>Add the yolk and 1 tablespoon of orange juice and continue to blend until dough begins to form. If the dough does not combine, add the second tablespoon of the juice.<\/li>\n<li>Transfer the dough to a lightly floured work surface, and form a disc shape with your hands. Wrap in plastic wrap and cool in the refrigerator for about an hour before rolling.<\/li>\n<li>Chocolate filling: melt the chocolate and butter in the microwave or oven double-boiler. Mix until everything melts and the mixture is uniform.<\/li>\n<li>Add ground nuts and mix until combined.<\/li>\n<li>Cool completely at room temperature before use. The mixture should be in a texture that is suitable for spreading after cooling.<\/li>\n<li>On a floured work surface roll out the dough to about 3-4 mm thick and cut out 5-6 cm circles.<\/li>\n<li>In each circle, place about \u00bd tsp of the chocolate filling and close in a shape of hamantaschen cookie.<\/li>\n<li>Place in intervals on a baking pan lined with baking paper, and cool the hamantaschen cookies in the freezer for about half an hour before baking.<\/li>\n<li>Preheat the oven to 175c degrees.<\/li>\n<li>Bake the hamantaschen for 10-14 minutes or until they are golden and completely set.<\/li>\n<li>Cool completely, sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve.<\/li>\n<\/ol><\/div>\n<div class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-notes\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: left\">You can fill the hamantaschen cookies with any other filling you like.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left\">You can keep the frozen hamantaschen (before baking) for about a week in the freezer.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left\">It is important not to fill the hamantaschen cookies too much, so that the filling won\u2019t burst out while baking.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left\">You can omit the orange zest from the dough if you\u2019d like.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left\">Keep the hamantaschen cookies in a sealed jar at room temperature for 5-6 days.<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<div class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-meta\">\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--End WPRM Recipe--><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_12155\" style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12155\" class=\"wp-image-12155\" title=\"Almond Hamantaschen Cookies Filled with Chocolate\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lilcookie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/orange_almond_and_chocolate_hamantaschen2-s.jpg\" alt=\"Almond Hamantaschen Cookies Filled with Chocolate\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-12155\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Natalie Levin<\/p><\/div>\n<\/span>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As someone who LOVES Purim and can\u2019t wait for this holiday to come every single year, I really love hamantaschen cookies as well.
