It&#8217;s easy to make, crispy and so fragrant \u2013 the perfect treat to dip in your coffee or tea cup.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_9957\" style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9957\" class=\"wp-image-9957\" title=\"Star-Shaped Gingerbread Cookies\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lilcookie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/ginger_cookies-s.jpg\" alt=\"Star-Shaped Gingerbread Cookies\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-9957\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Natalie Levin<\/p><\/div>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-6091382327871787\" data-ad-slot=\"7832461759\" data-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p><!--WPRM Recipe 21590--><\/p>\n<div class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe\">\n<h2 class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-name\">Star-Shaped Gingerbread Cookies<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-summary\">\n<p style=\"direction: ltr\">Based on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marthastewart.com\/315628\/gingerbread-snowflakes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Martha Stewart&#8217;s recipe<\/a> with changes and modifications<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<div class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-equipment\">\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n<div class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-ingredients\">\n<h4>For the cookies:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>100 grams (1\/2 cup) cold butter (cut into cubes)<\/li>\n<li>100 grams (1\/2 cup) dark brown sugar<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp. ground ginger<\/li>\n<li>1.5 tsp. ground cinnamon<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 tsp. salt<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 tsp. baking soda<\/li>\n<li>420 grams (3 cups) all-purpose flour<\/li>\n<li>1 large egg<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 cup honey or molasses<\/li>\n<li>1-2 tbsp. cold water (if necessary)<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<div class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-instructions\">\n<ol>\n<li>In a food processor with a steel blade put = butter, sugar, ginger, cinnamon, salt, baking soda and flour and blend until mixture is crumbly.<\/li>\n<li>Add egg and honey and continue to process just until large clumps of dough form. If the dough is not coming together, add another 1-2 tablespoons cold water.<\/li>\n<li>Transfer the dough on a work surface and create a flat disc shape. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for about an hour.<\/li>\n<li>Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 3-4 mm thick and cut out cookies.<\/li>\n<li>Place the cookies on a baking tray lined with baking paper.<\/li>\n<li>Preheat oven to 175c degrees.<\/li>\n<li>Bake for about 8-10 minutes, or until golden and set.<\/li>\n<li>Cool completely and store in a sealed jar.<\/li>\n<\/ol><\/div>\n<div class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-notes\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: left\">Keep the cookies in a sealed jar for up to two weeks at room temperature.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left\">If you want, you can decorate the cookies with some Royal Icing. Personally I prefer them natural.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left\">Instead of honey or molasses you can use date or maple syrup.
