Perfect as a dessert for Rosh Hashana feast.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_10815\" style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10815\" class=\"wp-image-10815\" title=\"French Apple Tart\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lilcookie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/french_apple_tart4-s.jpg\" alt=\"French Apple Tart\" width=\"800\" height=\"1200\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-10815\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Natalie Levin<\/p><\/div>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-6091382327871787\" data-ad-slot=\"7832461759\" data-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p><!--WPRM Recipe 21583--><\/p>\n<div class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe\">\n<h2 class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-name\">French Apple Tart<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-summary\">\n<div class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-equipment\">\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n<div class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-ingredients\">\n<h4>For short crust pastry:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>100 grams (1\/2 cup) cold butter cut into cubes<\/li>\n<li>150 grams (1 cup + 1 tbsp.) all-purpose flour<\/li>\n<li>30 grams (1\/3 cup) almond meal<\/li>\n<li>60 grams (6 tbsp.) sugar powder<\/li>\n<li>Pinch of salt<\/li>\n<li>Zest of 1\/2 lemon<\/li>\n<li>1 egg yolk<\/li>\n<li>1-2 tbsp. water (if necessary)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>For apple filling:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>5 large Granny Smith apples<\/li>\n<li>120 grams (1\/2 cup + 2 tbsp.) sugar<\/li>\n<li>75 grams (3\/4 stick) butter<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 tsp. vanilla extract<\/li>\n<li>Juice of 1\/2 lemon<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 tsp. cornstarch<\/li>\n<li>50 grams light or dark raisins (optional)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>For apple fan:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>3 large Granny Smith apples<\/li>\n<li>25 grams (2 tbsp.) melted butter<\/li>\n<li>3-4 tbsp. sugar<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<div class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-instructions\">\n<h4>Crust:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>In a food processor with a steel blade, put butter, flour, almond meal, sugar powder, salt and zest and blend until mixture is crumbly.<\/li>\n<li>Add egg yolk and continue to blend until you receive large chunks of dough. If the dough is not united, gradually add a little water.<\/li>\n<li>Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured work surface and for a disc-shape. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for 1 hour.<\/li>\n<li>Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 3-4 mm thick and line the pan. It&#8217;s important to create a right angle between the sides and the base of the crust, which will ensure the edges remain high when baking.<\/li>\n<li>Using a fork create holes in the crust. Freeze the crust for about an hour.<\/li>\n<li>Preheat oven to 170c degrees.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>Blind baking:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Put a sheet of heat-resistant plastic wrap or baking paper on the frozen crust and fill with dry beans or special weights for baking.<\/li>\n<li>Bake for about 12-14 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Remove the weights and the plastic wrap and continue to bake the crust for about 3-4 minutes or until it is lightly golden.<\/li>\n<li>Cool slightly at room temperature.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>Apple filling:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Peel the apples and cut into medium cubes.<\/li>\n<li>In a large skillet put sugar and form caramel. When caramel is amber in color, add in the apple cubes, butter, vanilla and lemon juice.<\/li>\n<li>Reduce the heat to medium and cook the apples in the caramel for 5-6 minutes, or until cubes soften slightly, but still solid.<\/li>\n<li>Add cornstarch and raisins and mix until dispersed evenly.<\/li>\n<li>Pour the apple filling onto half-baked crust.<\/li>\n<li>Slice the remaining apples into thin slices and arrange on top of the tart creating a fan-shape.<\/li>\n<li>Brush with melted butter ans sprinkle a thin layer of sugar on top.<\/li>\n<li>Bake for 25-35 minutes until golden.<\/li>\n<li>Cool slightly at room temperature and serve.<\/li>\n<\/ol><\/div>\n<div class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-notes\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: left\">Keep the apple tart in a close container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left\">Serve warm rather than cold from the fridge, preferably with ice cream or vanilla sauce.<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<div class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-meta\">\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--End WPRM Recipe--><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_10816\" style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10816\" class=\"wp-image-10816\" title=\"French Apple Tart\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lilcookie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/french_apple_tart3-s.jpg\" alt=\"French Apple Tart\" width=\"800\" height=\"525\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-10816\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Natalie Levin<\/p><\/div>\n<\/span>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is the ultimate French apple tart recipe.
