This Danish pastry is simply delicious &#8211; packed with lots of Nutella and absolutely everyone&#8217;s favorite.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_7231\" style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-7231\" class=\"wp-image-7231\" title=\"Nutella and Hazelnut Danish Pastries\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lilcookie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/nutella_danish-2-Large.jpg\" alt=\"Nutella and Hazelnut Danish Pastries\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-7231\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Natalie Levin<\/p><\/div>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-6091382327871787\" data-ad-slot=\"7832461759\" data-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p><!--WPRM Recipe 21197--><\/p>\n<div class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe\">\n<h2 class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-name\">Nutella and Hazelnut Danish Pastry<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-summary\">\n<p><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<div class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-equipment\">\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n<div class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-ingredients\">\n<h4>For the danish pastry dough:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>385 grams all-purpose flour<\/li>\n<li>5 grams instant active yeast<\/li>\n<li>125 ml. milk<\/li>\n<li>20 grams sugar<\/li>\n<li>30 grams soft butter<\/li>\n<li>1 large egg<\/li>\n<li>4 grams salt<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>For the folds:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>200 grams butter<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>For the filling:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>1\/2 jar of Nutella<\/li>\n<li>100-150 grams chopped hazelnuts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>For brushing:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>1 beaten egg<\/li>\n<li>2 tbsp. water<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>For the Frangelico syrup:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>100 grams sugar<\/li>\n<li>80 ml. water<\/li>\n<li>2 tbsp. Frangelico<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<div class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-instructions\">\n<h4>Danish pastry dough:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Place flour, yeast, milk, sugar, butter, egg and salt in a mixer bowl with a kneading hook and knead for about 10 minutes until you get uniform dough.<\/li>\n<li>Wrap the dough and cool for 30 minutes in the refrigerator.<\/li>\n<li>Prepare the butter for folding: slice the butter lengthwise into rectangles about 1\/2 cm thick, and place them together on a baking sheet to form a somewhat flattened rectangle.<\/li>\n<li>Place another baking sheet on top and, using a rolling pin, roll the butter until a uniform rectangle of about 12 x 15 cm is created.<\/li>\n<li>Keep the butter rectangle in the refrigerator until use.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>Prepare the danish:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>On a lightly floured surface roll the dough into a rectangle of 15 x 25 cm, and place the butter rectangle in top. Fold the dough in half and turn it around so that the fold will face towards your body.<\/li>\n<li>Roll out again (no need to cool at this time) and do an &#8220;envelope fold&#8221;. Wrap and cool for about 30 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Roll the dough again and do a &#8220;book fold. Wrap and cool for about an hour.<\/li>\n<li>Roll out the dough again and make another &#8220;envelope fold&#8221;. Wrap and cool for a whole night. In the morning the dough is ready for use.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>Make the Danish pastry:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Roll the dough into a rectangle about 4 mm thick (about 20 x 30 cm).<\/li>\n<li>Spread the Nutella in a thin layer and sprinkle hazelnuts evenly.<\/li>\n<li>Fold the dough in half and turn it so that the &#8220;stitch&#8221; side is facing the body.<\/li>\n<li>Roll gently to a thickness of about 1\/2 cm and cut strips of dough at a width of about 1 cm.<\/li>\n<li>Wrap each strap around itself so that it gets a sort of screw shape and roll it around itself to form the shape seen in the pictures.<\/li>\n<li>Place the pastries on a baking tray lined with baking paper at intervals.<\/li>\n<li>Cover with a damp towel and allow rising for about 30 minutes, or until the pastries almost double their volume.<\/li>\n<li>Preheat the oven to 170c degrees.<\/li>\n<li>Mix the egg and water and gently brush the pastries.<\/li>\n<li>Bake for 10-15 minutes or until golden and fragrant.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4>Frangelico syrup:<\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>In a small pot, put sugar and water and heat to a boil.
