(1\/2 cup) vegetable oil<\/li>\n<li>Pinch of salt<\/li>\n<li>180 ml. (3\/4 cup) milk or water<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp. instant ground coffee<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 tsp. ground cardamom<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp. vanilla extract<\/li>\n<li>280 grams (2 cups) all-purpose flour<\/li>\n<li>50 grams (5 tbsp.) cocoa powder<\/li>\n<li>50 grams (1\/4 cup) finely chopped pecans<\/li>\n<li>2 tsp. baking powder<\/li>\n<li>3-4 medium ripe pears (halved and cored)<\/li>\n<li>100-150 grams chocolate chips<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>For the glaze:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>1-2 tbsp. d\u00e9cor gel (dissolved with a little boiling water)<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<div class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-instructions\">\n<ol>\n<li>Preheat oven to 170c degrees and grease the pan well.<\/li>\n<li>In a large bowl, whisk eggs, sugar, oil, salt, milk (or water), coffee, cardamom and vanilla until mixture is smooth.<\/li>\n<li>Add flour, cocoa, chopped pecans and baking powder and mix until you get a smooth batter.<\/li>\n<li>Pour the batter into the pan.<\/li>\n<li>Arrange pear halves on top of batter.<\/li>\n<li>Sprinkle the top with chocolate chips.<\/li>\n<li>Bake for about 45-55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out with moist crumbs.<\/li>\n<li>Cool to room temperature.<\/li>\n<li>Brush the pear halves slightly with d\u00e9cor gel.<\/li>\n<\/ol><\/div>\n<div class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-notes\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: left\">Keep the cake in a closed container in the refrigerator up to 3-4 days.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left\">Serve the cake at room temperature or slightly warm.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left\">Instead of d\u00e9cor gel you can use apricot jam.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left\">Instead of pecans you can use any other kind of nut you like.<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<div class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-meta\">\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--End WPRM Recipe--><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_15389\" style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-15389\" class=\"wp-image-15389\" title=\"Pecan Chocolate Cake with Pears\" src=\"https:\/\/www.lilcookie.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/chocolate_pecan_and_pear_cake2-s.jpg\" alt=\"Pecan Chocolate Cake with Pears\" width=\"800\" height=\"534\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-15389\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Natalie Levin<\/p><\/div>\n<\/span>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pears are one of my favorite fruits, and I tend to eat at least 4-5 in a week.
