But if you open your mind a little \u2013 it&#8217;s actually great, and both honey and chocolate work very well together.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">This chocolate honey cake is a great dessert for Tishrei holidays season. It&#8217;s festive, easy to make, chocolatey-yet-honey-y and perfect for those of you who are tired of plain honey cakes and want to add some chocolate to the whole deal. It makes a great dessert for Rosh Ha&#8217;Shana feast and actually for all year round dinner parties.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">As someone who really couldn&#8217;t stand honey cakes up until few years ago, this chocolate honey cake was the one which changed my mind.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lilcookie.com\/category\/holidays-and-events-en\/rosh-hashana\/\">Looking for more delicious recipes for Rosh Hashanah? Click here &gt;&gt;<\/a><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_12912\" style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12912\" class=\"wp-image-12912\" title=\"Chocolate Honey Cake\" src=\"https:\/\/www.oogio.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/honey_chocolate_and_pecan_cake2-s.jpg\" alt=\"Chocolate Honey Cake\" width=\"800\" height=\"795\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-12912\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Natalie Levin<\/p><\/div>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-6091382327871787\" data-ad-slot=\"7832461759\" data-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p><!--WPRM Recipe 24351--><\/p>\n<div class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe\">\n<h2 class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-name\">Chocolate Honey Cake<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-summary\">\n<div class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-equipment\">\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n<div class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-ingredients\">\n<h4>For the chocolate honey cake:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>12 ml. boiling water<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp. instant coffee powder<\/li>\n<li>200 ml. sour cream \u2013 see notes for nondairy version<\/li>\n<li>125 ml. vegetable oil<\/li>\n<li>100 grams sugar<\/li>\n<li>240 grams honey<\/li>\n<li>Pinch of salt<\/li>\n<li>2 large eggs<\/li>\n<li>280 grams all-purpose flour<\/li>\n<li>10 grams baking powder<\/li>\n<li>70 grams cocoa powder<\/li>\n<li>100 grams milk chocolate (chopped)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>For chocolate and honey ganache:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>150 grams dark chocolate<\/li>\n<li>1 tbsp. honey<\/li>\n<li>125 ml. heavy cream \u2013 see notes for nondairy version<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Decoration:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Roasted and halved pecans<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<div class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-instructions\">\n<ol>\n<li>Preheat oven to 170c degrees and grease the pan.<\/li>\n<li>In a large bowl, mix water and coffee until dissolved.<\/li>\n<li>Add sour cream, oil, sugar, honey and salt and mix into a smooth mixture.<\/li>\n<li>Add eggs and beat into a smooth mixture.<\/li>\n<li>Add flour, cocoa and baking powder and whisk just until incorporated. It is important to avoid over-processing of the batter which can damage the final texture of the cake.<\/li>\n<li>Pour the batter into the pan, and smooth the top.<\/li>\n<li>Sprinkle chopped chocolate evenly on top.<\/li>\n<li>Bake for 40-50 minutes or until the cake is stable and a skewer inserted in the center comes out with moist crumbs.<\/li>\n<li>Cool completely at room temperature. Go with a knife through the sides of the pan to loosen the cake from the mold.<\/li>\n<li>\n<div style=\"direction: ltr\"><span style=\"font-size: inherit;font-weight: inherit\">Chocolate and honey ganache: chop the chocolate and place in a bowl.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div style=\"direction: ltr\"><span style=\"font-size: inherit;font-weight: inherit\">Heat a small pot of honey, cream and salt to simmer.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div style=\"direction: ltr\"><span style=\"font-size: inherit;font-weight: inherit\">Pour the hot cream over the chocolate, wait a minute, and beat well until a uniform and shiny chocolate ganache is formed.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div style=\"direction: ltr\"><span style=\"font-size: inherit;font-weight: inherit\">Pour the ganache over the cake and cool for about 2 hours in the refrigerator to set.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div style=\"direction: ltr\"><span style=\"font-size: inherit;font-weight: inherit\">Remove the cake from the pan and garnish the top with halved pecans.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div style=\"direction: ltr\"><span style=\"font-size: inherit;font-weight: inherit\">Serve at room temperature.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol><\/div>\n<div class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-notes\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: left\">Keep the cake in a closed container in the refrigerator up to a week.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left\">Serve the cake at room temperature rather than cold.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left\">Instead of honey you can use date syrup or maple.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left\">Instead of pecans you can use any other nut you like.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left\">Nondairy version: in the cake &#8211; instead of sour cream, use soy milk the same amount; in the ganache \u2013 use coconut cream (at least 17% fat) instead of cream the same amount.<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div>\n<div class=\"wprm-fallback-recipe-meta\">\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><!--End WPRM Recipe--><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_12911\" style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12911\" class=\"wp-image-12911\" title=\"Chocolate Honey Cake\" src=\"https:\/\/www.oogio.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/honey_chocolate_and_pecan_cake-s.jpg\" alt=\"Chocolate Honey Cake\" width=\"800\" height=\"795\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-12911\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Natalie Levin<\/p><\/div>\n<\/span>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Honey and chocolate is not such a common combination.
