These macarons are painted with snowflakes on top and are such a great thing to do with your kids in the winter days.\u00a0I got the idea from the great <a href=\"http:\/\/www.epicureanmom.com\/2011\/12\/vanilla-macarons-filled-with-vanilla.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Epicurious Mom<\/strong><\/a> blog.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">These macarons are filled with halva spread and mini homemade chocolate truffles, but you can definitely fill them with any other spreads you like.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_8366\" style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-8366\" class=\"wp-image-8366\" title=\"Halva and Chocolate &quot;Snow&quot; Macarons \" src=\"http:\/\/oogio.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/21.jpg\" alt=\"Halva and Chocolate &quot;Snow&quot; Macarons \" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-8366\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Natalie Levin<\/p><\/div>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\" style=\"display: block;\" data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-6091382327871787\" data-ad-slot=\"7832461759\" data-ad-format=\"auto\"><\/ins><br \/>\n<script>\n     (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\n<\/script><\/p>\n<h4 dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Halva and Chocolate Snow Macarons <\/strong><\/h4>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">25-35 macarons<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><u>For macaron shells:<br \/>\n<\/u>100 grams sugar powder<br \/>\n65 grams almond meal<br \/>\n50 grams egg whites<br \/>\nPinch of salt<br \/>\n20 grams sugar<br \/>\ncocoa powder for topping<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><u>For royal icing:<br \/>\n<\/u>100 grams sugar powder<br \/>\n1-2 tsp. cold water<br \/>\nA little sugar to disperse<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><u>White chocolate and halva filling<\/u><u>:<br \/>\n<\/u>50 ml. heavy cream<br \/>\nPinch of salt<br \/>\n200 grams white chocolate, chopped<br \/>\n30 grams halva very finely chopped<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><u>Dark chocolate truffle<\/u><u>:<\/u><u><br \/>\n<\/u>100 ml. heavy cream<br \/>\n100 grams dark chocolate, chopped<\/p>\n<h4 dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Preparation<\/strong><strong>:<\/strong><\/h4>\n<h5 dir=\"ltr\">Macarons:<\/h5>\n<ol dir=\"ltr\">\n<li>Sift powdered sugar and almond powder into a large bowl. It is important to sift carefully and do not leave large chunks in the mixture.<\/li>\n<li>Put the egg whites and salt in the bowl of an electric mixer with a whisking hook and beat on high speed until meringue begins to form and the mixture starts to whiten.<\/li>\n<li>Add sugar and continue beating until a glossy and stable meringue forms.<\/li>\n<li>Add almond powder to the meringue and fold carefully with a spatula. At first, stir slightly aggressive, and then go through a gentle fold until the mixture is uniform, stable but not liquid.<\/li>\n<li>Transfer the mixture to a pastry bag fitted with a 1 cm round piping tip and pipe macarons on an oven tray lined with silicon mat.<\/li>\n<li>Sprinkle some cocoa powder on top of the macarons.<\/li>\n<li>Leave the macarons for about an hour at room temperature before baking to dry and create a thin membrane on top.<\/li>\n<li>Preheat the oven to 150c degrees.<\/li>\n<li>Bake the macarons for about 10-13 minutes or until set.<\/li>\n<li>Cool completely at room temperature. Only when macarons are completely cold it can be separated from the pan. Arrange the macarons in pairs.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h5 dir=\"ltr\">Royal icing:<\/h5>\n<ol dir=\"ltr\">\n<li>In a small bowl mix sugar powder and water until the mixture is smooth and very thick.<\/li>\n<li>Transfer the royal icing into a small piping bag and draw on top of half of the macarons as in pictures.<\/li>\n<li>Sprinkle a little sugar on top. Leave the royal icing to set for about 1-2 hours at room temperature.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h5 dir=\"ltr\">White chocolate and halva filling:<\/h5>\n<ol dir=\"ltr\">\n<li>Heat cream and salt in a small pot to simmer.<\/li>\n<li>Pour the hot cream over the chopped chocolate, wait a minute, and beat until you get a uniform ganache.<\/li>\n<li>Mix in the halvah. Cool for about 1\/2 hour at room temperature, until the cream thickens a bit.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h5 dir=\"ltr\">Dark chocolate truffle:<\/h5>\n<ol dir=\"ltr\">\n<li>Heat cream in a small pot to simmer.<\/li>\n<li>Pour the hot cream over the chopped chocolate, wait a minute, and beat until you get a uniform ganache.<\/li>\n<li>Cool the truffle mixture in the refrigerator for about 1 hour, or until set.<\/li>\n<li>Form tiny balls of ganache.<\/li>\n<li>Pipe white chocolate and halva filling over half of the macarons and place a small truffle in the middle. Close.<\/li>\n<li>Refrigerate for several hours before serving.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4 dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Notes:<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul dir=\"ltr\">\n<li>Keep the macarons for up to 4-5 days in the refrigerator.
